Garden Transformation & Summerhouse, Falmouth
The result is a practical, low-maintenance garden that makes much better use of the space, while creating a bright and inviting area for the client to relax, entertain and enjoy throughout the year.
This previously underused area of the garden had been a vegetable patch and chicken coop, but had become overgrown, high maintenance and difficult for the client to enjoy. The aim was to create a low-maintenance, practical space with dedicated areas for growing vegetables and herbs, alongside a summerhouse positioned to make the most of the garden’s south-facing aspect.
Access presented a particular challenge due to the tiered garden and a 7ft retaining wall, so a conveyor system was used to safely and efficiently move materials. The summerhouse was installed on ground screws, reducing the need for a traditional concrete base and minimising additional loading on the tiered garden. Finished in Cladco Signature wood-grain composite, the summerhouse features double-glazed UPVC French doors and sidelights to maximise natural light, with guttering and a water butt providing rainwater collection for the raised planters. A new patio to the front creates an additional outdoor seating area and extends the usable space.
The wider landscaping of the top tier included removing old slabs and excess earth, installing a stepping-stone path, decorative planting features and Welsh slate surrounds, alongside bespoke raised sleeper planters to provide dedicated growing space.
